Job Description

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Benefits Manager oversees and administers benefits and wellness programs for the Company, including communications, leave management, compliance, vendor management, and provides work direction for the Benefits Specialist.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer benefit programs, including Medical, HSA, Dental, Life, Disability, Flexible Spending Accounts, COBRA, 401(k)
  • Directly manage the Benefits Specialist
  • Ensure Company benefit offerings and programs are competitive
  • Manage the annual open enrollment process
  • Participate in the preparation and review of all employee benefit communications
  • Communicate benefit information to new hires and assist employees with day-to-day benefit inquiries
  • Maintain plans, records, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintain up to date Summary Plan Descriptions
  • Review benefit invoices to ensure accuracy, and prepare and compile self-funded benefit invoices and audit for accuracy
  • Manage annual external audit of the 401(k) retirement plan
  • Analyze employee utilization of benefits and develop specific recommendations for review by management
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors, brokers and plan carriers
  • Review employee benefit contracts to ensure proposed changes have been incorporated
  • Leave of Absence management
  • Provide guidance and support for FMLA, and ADA accommodation compliance requests from Plant HR team
  • Remain current, and ensure compliance, on all benefits and Leave of Absence related laws & regulations
  • Assist in Compensation program administration
  • Coordinate operational aspects of the annual incentive plan, communication, and payout process
  • Serve as Comp & Benefit HCMS, HR Systems backup
  • Provide benefit and compensation administrative and professional support to the HR function at outlying locations and Corporate
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to HR Ops Team
  • Provide analytical support and data analysis on human resources projects

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • 7+ years of benefits administration experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
  • Ability to work with complex concepts and data, and communicate them clearly
  • Ability to foster teamwork with minimal guidance
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to interact with customers, business partners, and employees
  • Strong project management abilities both in leadership and individual contributor roles
  • Demonstrated skill and experience writing technical plans and process documentation
  • Continuous improvement mindset
