Business Lending Manager (ID:41695)
A rapidly growing Credit Union in the West Metro is seeking it's next leader to work alongside the Chief Lending Officer and head-up the Business Lending team in addition to prospecting, managing, and growing the existing commercial portfolio.

The Business Lending Manager will function as a lending resource primarily to commercial lending and business development. The successful candidate must possess the technical skills needed to underwrite, document and administer a commercial loan portfolio.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for independently reviewing new commercial loans to ensure they adhere to policy.
  • Formally assess the risk rating for a proposed loan and where needed and in concert with senior staff, structure the loan to conform to credit risk management standards as part of the underwriting process. 
  • Review and analyze due diligence items including cash flow, leverage, collateral condition, market trends, sponsor & ownership structure and financial projections. Prepare credit write-ups and present to approval committees. 
  • Actively manage client relationship throughout the loan underwriting process. 
  • Perform inspection to address collateral quality and necessary capital expenditures.  Presents to various credit committees on current and prospective credits.
  • Manage all aspects of transaction including client communication, borrower meetings and sponsor review. 
  • Manage pipeline of loans and ensure proper timeline management and communication to client and senior management.
  • Perform underwriting, credit analysis, analyze and spread financial statements, negotiating and closing of commercial loans in order to satisfy production goals while maintaining credit quality and credit policy adherence.
  • Performs regular and timely business loan monitoring 
  • Keeps current on all credit union policies and procedures 
  • Displays enthusiasm and energy to promote a positive atmosphere
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of lending related policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Assures loan documents, procedures, and policies are in compliance with State and Federal Laws and Regulations.
  • Keeps the Chief Lending Officer apprised of any issues related to lending systems and credit quality 
  • Analyze and spread financial statements for existing and potential new clients. Provide preliminary recommendation as to the feasibility of the credit request.
  • Prepare loan committee presentations and annual credit reviews along with supporting documentation for new and existing customers. Include in this review, assignment of appropriate risk ratings as well as compliance with loan covenants and loan policy.
  • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms under which the credit could be structured, including the costs, repayment methods, and collateral requirements. 
  • Monitor the credit facility once it is booked, including an assessment of interim financial information, borrowing base reports, and other supporting documentation. 
  • Participate in loan committees on an as needed basis. 
  • Complete/Review real estate evaluations supported by market data on real estate transactions that require an evaluation.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Five to Ten years of experience as an underwriter or equivalent position working on commercial loan originations.  
  • Working Knowledge of financial analysis, underwriting methods, risk evaluation, loan documentation and commercial loan collection activities. 
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to lending, collections, bankruptcies, credit cards, and loss prevention skills is required. 
  • Four-year degree or related combination of education and experience. MBA preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong detail orientation and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills is essential.
  • Personal Computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite software and collection database management systems are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a diverse environment that encompasses regular deadlines, where change is always possible and flexibility is required.
  • Valid Drivers License and the ability to travel, as necessary, to perform lending related duties is essential.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to write effective policies and procedures.
