Buyer II

The Buyer II is responsible for advanced, operations-driven procurement activities, with a strong emphasis on MRP execution, system-based purchasing, and supplier performance management. This role plays a critical part in transforming procurement from a transactional, email-based function into a data-driven, process-led, and system-dependent operation. The Buyer II will partner closely with Production, Inventory, and Operations to ensure material availability, cost effectiveness, and supply continuity while continuously improving procurement processes, data integrity, and planning accuracy.

Salary Range: $85-110K

Roles & Responsibilities:
Procurement Operations & MRP
- Execute and manage purchasing activities primarily through MRP-driven signals, forecasts, and system-generated demand.
- Support the build-out, refinement, and ongoing maintenance of MRP parameters, including lead times, safety stock, MOQ, and reorder points.
- Monitor MRP outputs and proactively address exceptions such as shortages, excess inventory, and planning inaccuracies.
- Partner with Planning, Production, and Inventory teams to ensure purchasing aligns with production schedules and inventory strategies.

Systems, Data, and Process Discipline
- Create and process purchase orders (POs) within ERP and procurement systems, ensuring high data accuracy and minimal manual workarounds.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including pricing, supplier agreements, lead times, and master data.
- Drive adoption of system-based intake and purchasing workflows, reducing reliance on email and ad-hoc requests.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to cost, service levels, and inventory performance.

Supplier Management & Cost Control
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, serving as an operational point of contact.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to support cost control and service reliability.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalate delivery or quality issues as needed.
- Participate in supplier evaluations and supplier development initiatives.

Inventory & Operational Support
- Manage stock levels to balance service levels with working capital objectives.
- Monitor lead times and purchasing plans to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams to resolve discrepancies and support inventory accuracy.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activity, supplier performance, inventory health, and cost trends.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, controls, and system usage.
- Support cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Procurement Supervisor.

Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting or operating within an MRP-driven procurement environment.
- Global purchasing experience.
- 2+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing or operational setting.
- Proficiency with SAP or other ERP procurement modules.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working on cross-functional process or system improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain.
- Strong understanding of procurement operations and inventory planning.
- Experience working within ERP systems and procurement software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
