Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Compensation, the Compensation Manager is responsible for managing compensation plans, developing and implementing compensation programs, policies, procedures, in order to be responsive to the Company's strategic direction. Ensures the organization’s pay practices are competitive, short-term and long-term rewards attract and retain great talent, and recognize high performance.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of compensation policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Design creative solutions to compensation-related programs
  • Perform analysis and design recommendations for short-term incentive plans including changes in financial forecasts or changes in plan design
  • Analyze impact of compensation on financial statements, and ensure appropriate balance with solid risk mitigation
  • Recommend, develop and implement compensation plans which are cost effective and consistent with strategic objectives and compensation trends
  • Manage the administration of direct compensation, and ensure effective systems are developed and maintained 
  • Participate in salary surveys, and conduct annual and periodic market reviews
  • Partner with the businesses and HR Generalists to build and maintain competitive compensation structure
  • Provide advice on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation
  • Ensure appropriate deferred compensation programs and documentation are paired with compensation offerings and accurate schedules, documentation, and payments are maintained
  • Keep apprised of federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance
  • Travel to business and customer locations, nationally; up to 10%

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, accounting, finance or economics
  • Seven years’ compensation and/or financial analysis

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-divisional/unit business environment
  • Advanced study in the field of executive compensation
  • Diverse business experiences with experience in the financial services sector and sales environments
  • Understanding of compensation fundamentals, including market pricing, pay structures, short-term and long-term, and executive incentive plans
  • Strong strategic/compensation design knowledge and experience
  • Strong communication and engagement skills; confident and professional
  • Strong technical and analytical skills; excellent attention to detail, accuracy
  • Has developed effective techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data
  • Strong administrative, process and documentation skills
  • Excellent business judgment and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient Word and Excel skills
