Director, Health Information Management
An exciting opportunity to lead the Health Information Management department of a progressive and thriving rural health hospital. Work and partner closely with the Executive Team to ensure short and long-term initiatives and goals are met. Hire and mentor others, ensure accuracy of information resulting in successful organizational outcomes.

To manage the functions and personnel of the HIM Department ensuring that all functions of the department are in accordance with the philosophy and goals of the organization, and are within the requirements of all regulatory groups, external accrediting agencies and licensing bodies. Serves as the Privacy Officer for the organization.

Qualifications & Professional Expectations








Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)






Bachelor’s degree in Medical Record Administration, Business, Healthcare, or related field 



Three to five years of HIM experience  including competency with computer systems.

Healthcare experience.

Supervisory experience.

  • Directs, delivers, and ensures HIPAA training to all staff, volunteers, medical staff and business associates

  • Demonstrate strong analytical ability
  • Directly assumes the responsibility as the custodian of all organizational medical records
  • Develop and monitor an annual Quality Assurance Initiative
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures


  • Monitor and adhere to departmental budget goals, with explanation of any budget variances
  • Correctly documents use of departmental supplies and materials
  • Plans and institutes the most efficient and economical methods of records retention for the organization
