Job Description

The Director of Business Services is accountable for leading all aspects of Business Services including Commercial and Small Business Lending, deposit services, business development, and new business acquisition. This role will provide strong leadership and oversight to all business service strategies and initiatives; stay abreast of emerging technologies, service and operational trends; and focus on the long-term direction of this channel in an evolving industry.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages a support team and key processes that are related to our Business Services products and services in order to achieve business objectives including, but not limited to: customer satisfaction, service levels, resolution time, and project deadlines

• Train, develop, and coach the Business Services team to continuously improve their knowledge, productivity, and effectiveness

• Responsible for driving team performance and engagement by conducting ongoing dialogs with employees and in completing staff reviews 

• Understand the ever-changing demands of clients based the evolution of the financial services industry (online & mobile technology, payment systems, etc.) and respond to these changes impacting the business services experience with creative solutions, tangible actions and measurable outcomes

• Lead and maintain new and ongoing Business Development

• Create, analyze, and report on department metrics and efficiencies

• Partner with direct reports on their individual development to ensure short-term and long-term success of the employee and the organization

• Develop project plans related to Business Services.  Sets deliverable dates for all assigned projects and delegates projects and tasks to the card services team. Escalates issues that impact timing and budget and identifies additional resources needed during the project lifecycle

• In collaboration with Finance, prepares and manages department’s budget to meet departmental goals and provide effective management of resources

• Ensures adequate business continuity plan is in place and that all procedures are adequately documented

• Other duties as assigned



Required Skills and Experience: 

• 7+ years of experience in hands-on leading a Business Banking team required

• 5+ years of experience in various aspects of commercial lending, including underwriting, originating, credit presentations, spreading financials and taxes, product development, opening and maintaining business banking deposit products, and developing Business Banking relationships

• Experience in working with SBA lending options and assistance

• Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal laws pertaining to Business Services

• Ability to think strategically in the development and implementation Business Services plans which align with organizational goals and culture

• Ability to effectively coach, lead and motivate employees to achieve results

• Ability to manage costs and optimize resources

• Strong analytical skills required with a high degree of accuracy

• Aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team and ability to collaborate with others

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Time Management skills and the ability to prioritize workload based on department and member needs

• Flexibility to adapt and succeed in a dynamic environment
