Engineering Manager
Our client is small, diverse design and manufacturing company of electro-mechanical devices for mission-specific mobile vehicles.  Products can withstand harsh external conditions.  They design and produce custom and standard operator controls panels and related products.  The company is growing and has new ownership that is investing in people and capital. 

This leadership position will play a key role in the overall success of the organization by planning, managing, and monitoring engineering functions.  This position will be responsible for overseeing various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments to ensure successful completion.

Engineering Manager reports to the President and participates on the Leadership team with other peers in making company decisions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert
  • Answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering team members
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects
  • Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by staff
  • Conduct various tests and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects
  • Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processes
  • Monitor and determine various staffing needs, hire, train and supervise engineering staff
  • Conduct weekly engineering meetings and individual one on one meetings
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and vendors
  • Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internal and external
  • Other projects as assigned.
  • Expectation for this position will be an on-site leader

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, master’s degree a plus
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a management role or guiding others
  • Experience with automotive design or equivalent
  • Technical competence and possess the ability to provide clear direction to engineers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ISO standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, innovative, and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers
  • Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
  • Ability to implement change
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ideally this person should be experienced with electro-hydraulics and electro-pneumatics or rugged control systems.
