Job Description

Our retail client is looking for an HR Specialist to join their team for a 4+ month contract assignment. This HR Specialist will be supporting a team of Human Resource Business Partners with employee inquiries, employee relations, benefits, projects, HRIS documentation and more. This HR Specialist will also be working with the talent acquisition team to facilitate new hire documentation and on-boarding.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries
  • Provides orientation and on-boarding support to new hires and hiring managers including processing new hire paperwork
  • Post open positions online and coordinate connecting candidates with the appropriate hiring manager
  • Assists in benefits administration, including annual open enrollment, provide assistance to employees with questions or concerns, claims resolution, change reporting, Cobra, LOA , etc.
  • Provide compensation and performance management support to managers
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Assist with payroll to ensure proper administration


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 3+ years of previous Human Resources Assistant experience
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Strong communication skills in-person, on the phone, and written
  • Exceptional customer service focus and attention to detail
  • HRIS experience, Workday preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively while maintaining attention to detail
  • Confident at quickly adapting to changing work environment and priorities
  • Comfortable working with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
