Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Human Resources Director serves as a strategic business partner and partners with the Company’s senior leaders. The incumbent is responsible for implementing human resources programs and policies, including workforce planning, staffing, compensation, employee engagement, and training programs for multiple locations and groups. The HR Director also works closely with and has a dotted line reporting relationship with the Company’s parent organization. Relying on broad knowledge and strong leadership skills, the Human Resources Manager is accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with employees at all levels
  • Address concerns promptly, and if applicable, conduct investigations to resolve conflicts
  • Partner with other HR team members in organizing and administering employee events, recognition programs, etc.
  • Ensure employees adhere to Company policies and procedures
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects to align staffing needs to meet organizational objectives
  • Work collaboratively with managers towards achieving employee’s individual goals and objectives, which includes managing the performance review process, performance improvement, and professional development plans
  • Analyze various HR data, such as turnover trends, and propose a strategy to breach the gap between actual and desired organizational performance.
  • Partner with managers to effectively integrate new employees into the organization and familiarize them with Company culture and environment
  • Partner with the Learning and Development team to provide practical solutions for talent development, including understanding and anticipating employee’s professional developmental needs
  • Stay abreast with employment laws and make appropriate updates to ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment law changes for assigned location(s)
  • Lead and develop the human resources team, which includes recruiting, employee relations, employee engagement, talent management, and employee development and growth
  • Responsible for HR direct reports including making hiring decisions, training, coordinating work, establishing standards, reviewing work, conducting performance appraisals, and providing coaching or counseling
  • Actively participate in various special projects including parent company HR projects
  • Prepare written and verbal presentations that educate and inform on area of responsibility/expertise
  • Travel outside primary work location up to 25% of time

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant and progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Minimum of six years of leadership experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working in financial services or the insurance industry
  • Human Resources Certification, e.g. SPHR/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP)
  • Ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with department heads
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Experience with business transformation and change management
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience in developing and promoting own team members
  • Knowledge of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively; develop and deliver multi-mode communications, and make connections across the organization while working with employees and managers in multiple and remote locations
  • Ability to attract top talent; attract and select the best talent to meet current and future needs
  • Ability to optimize work processes; knowledge of the most effective and efficient processes to get things
  • Must be a strong leader and able to delegate, inspire and plan effectively
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to influence at all levels
