Our Health & Wellness client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lease Accounting Manager to join their finance team. The Lease Accounting Manager will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 while serving as a strategic partner to their real estate team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of lease accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate with work collaboratively with the Company’s real estate and construction teams providing Management with strategic insight as to the accounting treatment for various lease scenarios. The ideal candidate will have excellent working knowledge of ASC 842 and experience with sale-leasebacks and built-to-suit leases.
 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the lease accounting functions of the organization, ensuring compliance with ASC 842 for all leases including build-to-suit leases and sale-leaseback transactions.
  • Review lease agreements and extract relevant lease data, including lease terms, payment schedules, renewal options, and other critical information to ensure proper accounting under ASC 842.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, real estate, and construction to gather and validate lease information, resolve lease-related issues, ensure accurate lease accounting, and provide strategic direction related to various lease scenarios.
  • Develop and implement lease accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing support and documentation related to lease accounting.
  • Stay updated on changes in lease accounting standards and regulations, and proactively assess their impact on the organization
  • Provide timely, accurate and concise lease disclosure in our annual and quarterly regulatory filings.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Four-year college degree in accounting or related field
  • CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of lease accounting principles and standards (ASC 842).
  • Proficient in interpreting and analyzing complex lease agreements and extracting relevant lease data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, presentation, and inter-personal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
