The role of the Manufacturing Manager is to supervise and coordinate a team, direct and coordinate the design for manufacturing processes, manufacturing outputs and improvements for this area that is a part of the custom business unit. Your focus is always on quality.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Managing manufacturing area for daily improvements, utilizing visual boards to help work centers continually improve.
  • Develop and execute staffing plan based on demand by cell.
  • Act as the manufacturing engineer for the area.
  • Develop and sustain standard work for operations and/or positions.
  • Effectively communicate issues and concerns to peers and support team.
  • Ensure ISO 9000 and 14000 procedures are followed, and requirements are met.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products to our internal and external customers.
  • Able to assess the department’s current situation (i.e., staffing, capacity constraints, equipment maintenance issues, etc.) and communicate needs.
  • Promote worker safety.
  • Determines parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Manages change through engineering change orders, MDRs, bill of materials, and work to resolve any issues found.
  • Improve workflow, documentation, and communication between shop floor and design team, as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing work instructions, process control plans, and other documentation required for production release.
  • Actively involved in internal audits, action items, and various engineering projects.
  • Assist in the development of new products, the direction in prototypes, pilot runs, first articles, and interaction with the production employees to adapt to the shop floor process.
  • Work with vendor/suppliers to procure specialty tools and/or supplies.
  • Trouble shooting struggles in shipments, hazard needs for materials and instruction details on handling products in the field.
  • Audit requests for aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability of customer-driven requests for modified product designs
  • Provide leadership and employee development.
  • Manage performance through coaching and necessary corrective action.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the work performed by direct reports and manufacturing engineering for the area.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • B.S. degree in engineering or related field, manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a production environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and tools
  • Experience managing highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Solidworks and an ERP system is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with GFRC products is preferred.
