Our client has an opening for an experienced buyer, purchasing and materials manager with an Epicor background. A significant growth in the market has created an opportunity for someone with this background to join the team. For this position, we are seeking a team builder with a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Organize and coordinate the acquisition and disposition of supplies, materials and equipment. Maintain inventory accuracy and data integrity. Responsibilities will include establishing effective inventory, retain and improve sound relationships with vendors, negotiate effectively, develop new sources, communicate effectively, and support the production team.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Organize and coordinate the acquisition and disposition of supplies, materials and equipment. Maintain inventory accuracy and data integrity. Responsibilities will include establishing effective inventory, retain and improve sound relationships with vendors, negotiate effectively, develop new sources, communicate effectively, and support the production team.
- Responsible for procurement activities including processing requests, order placement, supplier evaluation/certification, inventory control supplier follow-up and price negotiation
- Responsible for supplier management including expediting and quality assurance
- Responsible for daily order fulfillment and follow-up
- Directly responsible for the procurement and management of MRO items
- Directly involved in customer (internal and external) satisfaction improvement via superior quality, service and cost performance
- Play an active role in cost reduction efforts via negotiations and coordination of internal customers’ requirements supplier efforts
- Solve vendor supplier and delivery issues
- Materials database: Achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity and ownership
- Assist in corporate purchasing and materials initiatives including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, Consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction and supplier quality certifications
- Assist in the implementation of a commodity strategy and delivery assurance of materials to meet installation schedules
- Identify bottleneck areas and over/under capacity situations
- Assist in physical inventory, including planning, direction, resource allocation and data integrity
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of advanced purchasing techniques and best practices
- Maintain philosophy of Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing
- Identify market opportunities (price, product, need) and anticipate changes in market conditions
- Oversee warehouse area and 3 direct reports
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies to optimize inventory control and ensure efficient supply chain management
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to obtain the best terms and pricing for materials and services
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and requirements
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability of materials to make informed purchasing decisions
- Oversee the logistics of material delivery, ensuring timely and accurate shipments
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain
- Conduct regular audits of inventory levels and implement measures to prevent stockouts or excess inventory
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, accounting or related field
- Five years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management
- Certified Purchasing manager (CPM) and/or Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) Certifications are encouraged; may substitute any equivalent combination of experience and education
- Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and practices, purchasing and accounting, inventory management, cost benefit analysis, and cost comparison analysis preferred. Must have experience working with Excel, Access and ERP System Epicor
- Ability to professionally furnish and obtain information from other departments; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; constant contact with vendors and internal departments presenting data that may influence important decisions; frequent contacts with executives on matters requiring explanations and discussions; requiring tact and judgment to deal with and influence people; requires a well-developed sense of strategy and timing. Strong interpersonal skills needed for success
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities/duties
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships
