Middle Office Analyst (Mortgage/CRE CLOs)
Investment Analyst opportunity with a large, privately-held global investment firm focusing on a Commercial Real Estate portfolio.

Our client is a large global alternative investment firm that employs a value-based approach to investing across a broad array of geographies, segments and asset types, including corporate and traded credit, real estate, mortgages, financial services, real assets and infrastructure. The firm sponsors and manages a family of private investment funds with a global investor base that includes foundations and endowments, pension plans, insurance companies, other institutional investors and private clients.

Their investing activities are guided by the following investment philosophy: (i) search opportunistically for undervalued or inefficient markets; (ii) invest in assets at a discount to their intrinsic value; (iii) identify catalysts for value recognition; (iv) pursue medium-term investment horizons; and (v) manage risk through diversified investment programs and trading strategies.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Investment Closing:
• Coordinate investment closings including the operational components of structuring, legal documentation, senior finance, and treasury functions
• Monitor deal performance and compliance which could include cash flow projections, cash distributions, and finance facility triggers and concentration limits

Investment Management:
• Contribute to regular portfolio reviews to assess investment performance
• Monitor deal compliance including performance covenants, senior finance covenants, cash flow projections and financial reporting
• Actively support disposition process at both portfolio and asset level
• Participate in periodic audits of asset managers and servicers

Valuation & Reporting:
• Build and maintain valuation models for specific illiquid investments
• Build and maintain relationships with external asset managers, servicers, and portfolio companies
• Deal performance reporting to internal investment professionals, investor relations, tax, legal, and the Valuation Committee
• Completion of monthly performance reporting, Valuation Committee materials, and internal database updates
• Ad hoc reporting as required
• Manage external valuation verification procedures


Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, and/or Finance a plus)
• Experience with CRE CLOs, Mortgages, NPLs or real estate preferred
• 4+ years of prior experience at a Hedge Fund, Asset Manager, Global Bank or Big Four accounting firm within a valuation and/ or product control function is strongly preferred
• Exposure to the Mortgage Credit and Private Debt industries preferred
• Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel
• Knowledge of Intext or Geneva a plus
• SQL / Tableau / Sigma experience preferred
• Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize among many time-sensitive demands
• Experienced and confident communicator (both oral and written) with strong relationship skills
• The successful applicant for this position must be authorized to work in the United States
