SBA Senior Credit Analyst (ID:45401)
Our client with over $6 Billion in Assets is seeking an SBA subject matter expert to handle SBA credits in the Minnesota and Denver market; our client has designs on doubling or tripling their SBA portfolio in the next few years. This exciting role is responsible for the underwriting of SBA-guaranteed loan requests within the bank. You will be responsible for independently performing advanced credit analysis assignments and assisting commercial Bankers in the pre-funding development, analysis, and underwriting functions of SBA-related requests. In collaboration with Bankers, this position is responsible for examining and evaluating information and making recommendations to the respective Banker regarding the general creditworthiness and merits of credit requests from existing and prospective customers. This position will also provide ongoing mentoring and training for Credit Analysts as directed by the Lead Credit Officer.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • This position requires knowledge, proficiency, and adherence to internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  • SBA-guaranteed loan analysis will follow guidance established in SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current SOP SBA requirements through continuous learning individually and through NAGGL and/or other outlets.
  • Collection and analysis of financial data necessary to determine the general creditworthiness and merits of credit requests. This may include reviewing and spreading financial statements, tax returns, cash flow and projection analysis, risk rating, and analysis and review of personal financial statements and other applications that are presented in adherence with Bank Credit Guidelines/Policy and SBA SOP requirements.
  • Assesses total risk pertaining to complex requests for new or existing customers, primarily through the analysis of financial statements and credit history.
  • Ongoing credit monitoring to include the review of borrowing base certificates and covenant compliance letters. This includes working with Bankers on the collection and reconciling to financial documents and working with Credit Officers and the line on non-compliance issues.
  • Mentor of Credit Analysts throughout the underwriting process. This may include training new credit analysts on underwriting processes and procedures and reviewing credit analyst work for accuracy compared to loan policy requirements to ensure quality credit risk analysis.
  • Provided support to the Credit Administration Representative in his/her absence on the completion and distribution of agendas, meeting minutes, and other meeting materials to the Commercial Credit Committee.
  • Occasional travel to bank branches across the Bank footprint.
  • Annual due diligence review of vendors the bank uses in its normal course of business.
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of post-high school education and related work experience 
  • In addition to education in the field of business, we prefer five or more years of experience and/or training in a lending, credit analysis, or regulatory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must have an extensive background in SBA 7A loans and a strong understanding of SOPs.
