Security Administrator
Our client is an industry leader in work comp insurance. 37.5 hour work weeks and flexible hybrid work arrangement (2 days per week in the office)

Implements, maintains, administers and supports information and communication technology while securing company resources and maintaining high standards of professionalism, ethics and customer service.  Is meticulous and detail-oriented, with excellent technical and information security skills.  Provides high-level technical support and leadership for securing the company network and data and makes recommendations for advancements in security technologies and practices.


 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Security Administration Focus:

  1. Provides leadership in the administration and implementation of network and data security technologies, including production and disaster recovery firewalls and two-factor authentication.
  2. Assesses network and data security threats, recommends and improves security practices, and performs regular internal/external vulnerability scanning to identify anomalous events and security infractions.
  3. Responsible for monitoring news feeds, security publications and alert services to be aware of any “zero day” security exploits and takes appropriate action to protect against these threats.
  4. Assists in developing responses to internal & external audits, penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
  5. Attends security conferences and seminars to stay informed of emerging technologies in support of security enhancement and development efforts.
  6. Security Committee member and runs the monthly Security Committee meetings providing updates to discussion topics and action items identified during these meetings.
  7. Ensures hardware and software stays up to date with the latest security patches.
  8. Creates network policies and authorization roles and defends against unauthorized access, modifications and destruction.
  9. Training of staff to understand and use security protocols as well as be more security conscious

Systems Administration Focus:

  1. Provides technical leadership in the administration and implementation of UNIX/Linux systems and software.
  2. Provides technical leadership in the administration and implementation of SAN/NAS technologies.
  3. Preserves the safety and integrity of all information systems and data while minimizing downtime for critical systems, including maintaining the disaster recovery equipment and documentation.
  4. Maximizes the performance of information and communication systems by monitoring performance, optimizing usage, and tuning hardware and software parameters.
  5. Maintains availability and extends longevity of information and communication systems by administering equipment maintenance activities and contracts.
  6. Follows company best practices and departmental and team customer service for problem resolution and tracking.  Communicates status to customers in a timely manner.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or similar field, OR, Associate’s degree in IT related field, with two years’ experience in Windows systems administration.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in security administration.
  • Must have a current security certification, such as CISSP, CISM, ISP, CASP, etc.
  • Advanced Knowledge working with security technologies including firewalls and secure authentication.
  • Strong knowledge of networking equipment including routers and switches.
  • Ability to follow directions, understand and adhere to team procedures and company best practices.
  • Displays integrity, respect, and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized and accurate with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation abilities with a focus for detail.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of general business concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide solid levels of system uptime by proactively maintaining systems and security protocols.
  • Ability to follow directions, understand and adhere to team procedures and company best practices.
  • Strong knowledge and comprehension of general business concepts, techniques and functions.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
