Senior Director Supply Chain (ID:41805)
We are working with an Industry leader who provides products and services across the US. Headquartered in St Paul, MN, they are on a fast track for growth. Private Equity backed, they have a planned strategy for growth organically and through acquisitions.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to continue to build a company Supplier program and purchasing organization and have an impact on the company profitability.  This position reports to the CFO and is a part of the leadership team.

The Supply Chain position will negotiate all supply chain and purchasing contracts for cost efficiencies. Oversee organization-wide processes, procedures, and suggestions, updating and implementing as observed. The Supply Chain Director is responsible for the organization and coordination of purchasing operations and procedures to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Purchasing practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Lead purchasing practices during acquisitions, assigning to subsidiary Purchasing Manager, as appropriate.
  • Direct training efforts for newly acquired businesses.
  • Develop and maintain preferred vendor list, including national contracts for consistency and effective pricing.
  • Negotiate and track supplier rebates across all the Summit companies.
  • Direct, develop and communicate subsidiary purchasing departments’ results, goals, and priorities by tracking KPI’s as needed.
  • Direct process improvement and strategy for departmental goals and outcomes.
  • Review efficient use and logistics surrounding product use, communicate finds to Purchasing Manager for execution (i.e., chemical use period, overstocking issues).
  • Responsible for Purchasing Department’s results and achievement of assigned and communicated objectives.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers, up and down chain of command, effectively.
  • Appropriately manage and oversee team members following company policies and practices to include training, re-training, coaching, discipline, etc.
  • Train Purchasing Managers and team member(s) on updated processes, retrain as appropriate.
  • Prepare reports
  • Oversee performance of purchasing department: Purchasing Manager(s); able to support and assist as well as cover when needed.
  • Work with subsidiary operations and purchasing department to ensure that the current material pricing lists are being utilized.
  • Oversee, support, and track inventory balances in coordination with Purchasing Managers.
  • Lead and/or collaborate with procurement, accounting, branch managers and IT to provide resolutions to system tools and discrepancies in data.
  • Develop and monitor supply chain KPI’s that will be used across all subsidiaries.
  • Ensure accuracy throughout with acute attention to detail.

Subcontract Management:
  • Overseeing agreements with subcontractors following company policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Ensure agreement changes are communicated including products, descriptions, costs, delivery status or other pertinent data.
  • Oversee, manage, and track subcontractor performance including cost adjustments, delivery schedules and general customer service.
  • Ensure Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes are managed per company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance of the supplier list.
  • Request and maintain COI’s
  • Ensure all documentation is recorded and maintained for tracking and auditing purposes.
  • Up to 30% travel, 10 – 15% typical.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • BA, BS, MBA in supply chain management; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • 5+ years of senior level management experience required, preferably within the construction industry.
  • 10+ years supply chain and purchasing experience required.
  • Ability to provide leadership to a diverse group of people.
  • Experience formulating strategies, goals, objectives, standards, and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of negotiation and administration of contracts and legal aspects of a corporation. 
  • Working knowledge and experience developing budgets and using cost control techniques.
  • Experience managing and evaluating technical and supervisory personnel in a fire protection environment.
