Senior Product Development Engineer (ID:41936)
Our client is a rapidly growing innovative Consumer Products Company in the Minneapolis area with a dynamic, fast-paced, product development work environment.
This exciting position is responsible for the design, development, and transition to production of consumer directed, trendy, innovative, cost-effective and reproducible designs of our client’s consumer products.  The successful candidate will participate on cross-functional development teams for the purpose of ensuring high integrity designs through effective use of appropriate analytical tools. Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design next generation, in demand, functional and manufacturable customer driven, innovative products
  • Effectively interface with engineers, designers, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to meet project deadlines
  • Responsible for assisting Marketing team members by providing leadership, guidance and education to both internal and external customers on product features, advantages and benefits stemming from the designs
  • Managing projects will require influencing and communicating between departments
  • Participate in developing project plans, test plans (testing done on-site), and writing test reports; assist with creating, maintaining, and revising product project plans and effectively communicate project deadlines
  • Create product documentation: 3D modeling of components and assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOM’s and ECO’s
  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams for assigned product lines
  • Provide new product training to Marketing, Customer Service, Sales and potentially others
  • Provide technical product support to customers
  • Learn competitive and industry knowledge, understand competitors and their features, potentially attend trade shows, add value to company’s product capabilities  
  • Able to represent Company at trade shows, trade association and client meetings to promote products and services

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related technical degree
  • 2+ years’ experience as a design engineer
  • 3D CAD work experience
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Effective project planning and execution skills; ability to multi-task and manage several projects at once
  • Must possess a high level of enthusiasm, strong integrity, excellent organizational and collaborative skills and provide technical problem solving
     
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in consumer product design
  • DFMEA and FEA experience
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • UL, TUV and/or CE experience
