Looking for an HR Generalist to join a great family company! This person will have the opportunity to grow in their HR skillset by wearing many hats. The HR Generalist is responsible for creating, updating and applying all HR policies and company guidelines and making sure they adhere to standards and laws initiated by authorities. They also handle HR compliance, benefits, and payroll activities for US based employees. This position prepares & processes the payroll, interfacing with a 3rd party payroll provider and HRIS system.  This position acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers to resolve employee relations and benefits-related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. This position provides administrative support to the HR function as needed (e.g., correspondence generation, record keeping, file maintenance, HR compliance and HRIS entry).

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that payroll is processed in a timely & accurate manner including calculating and entering payroll data including garnishments and commissions.
  • Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions. Serve as the COBRA administrator for the company.  Responsible for regulatory reporting on HR related issues.
  • Assists with employee recruitment, evaluation, selection, and onboarding new hires including payroll and benefit information.  Maintain related records including I-9 and W-4 information.  Works with external vendors including staffing organizations.
  • In conjunction with the insurance broker, manage annual open enrollment each year. Arrange for distribution of plan summary materials and required notices, assist with communicating changes to employees and arrange for onsite representation by providers. Conduct employee benefit presentations. Process changes within deadlines.
  • Processes monthly billings from insurance providers. Enters and reviews billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment. Resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Complete reports for management as requested.
  • Coordinates and assists with EEO, Affordable Care Act, Department of Labor and ERISA reporting requirements and other regulatory / compliance issues.
  • Representative on Safety Committee, responsible for all OSHA reporting, coordinating of any workers’ compensation issues, logging of environmental hazardous & non-hazardous manifests and year end reporting.
  • Builds trust and confidence with employees and managers.
  • Assist with specific organization initiatives, projects and goals.
  • Processes and tracks 401K plan transaction including enrollment, changes and year-end reporting.
  • Handles employee relation issues effectively and escalates as needed.
  • Strives to ensure employee understanding of benefits programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise. Resolve employee complaints related to health and welfare plans, refer difficult or very complex complaints to manager as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison with various insurance carriers and foster effective relationships with client representatives.
  • Acts as a resource for payroll/HR contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefits and HR policies and regulations. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.  Stays abreast of legal and regulatory changes as well as current trends.
  • Performs outreach to community resources as needed.
  • Writes, revises, edits and proofreads company policies and procedures and related documents as needed. Use electronic benefits bulletin board and other vehicles to communicate information.
  • Assists with ongoing employee education and communication via newsletter, standup meetings, memos, and other media.
  • Coordinates company employee engagement activities.
  • Conducts employee exit interviews in absence of supervisor.
  • Develop and support company initiatives.
  • Possesses advanced communication skills to include effective emails, speak clearly and concise, present effectively to communication initiatives, and other important information.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • A degree in Human Resources or SHRM-CP or PHR certifications
  • 3-4 years’ experience in related human resource responsibilities.
  • Prior payroll experience.
  • Must be proficient to advanced in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook.
  • Prior ERP software experience.
  • Process minded.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment.
