Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the day to day operations of this family-owned, industry-leading manufacturer.  

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for timely creation and reporting of production costs relating to labor, materials and overhead.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, audits and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain labor cost reporting in the areas of efficiency and rate reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Establish and maintain materials cost reporting in the areas of efficiency and rate reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Establish and maintain overhead cost reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Create and maintain individual product codes (SKUs) costs roll-up, including labor materials and overhead.
  • Conduct, at a minimum, quarterly updates to all product codes (SKUs).
  • Create and enter cost and general accounting journal entries on a daily, weekly and monthly basis into the ERP.
  • Generate reports through the ERP system for internal and external customers.
  • Communicate reporting results to appropriate leaders at all levels within the organization.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, audits and reporting as requested.
  • Assist in other areas of the Accounting department as requested.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles relating to income statement impact and cost results.
  • An understanding of cost accounting relating to a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compose professional, concise and clear correspondence and reports.
  • A high level of attention to detail, organization and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and demonstrate a willingness to take on new projects.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and work within established deadlines.

 

Qualifications Preferred

  • Two (2) – four (4) years cost accounting experience or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
