Supply Chain/Logistics Director

Our client is a fast-growing business within a high-growth industry (the LED Lighting industry is expected to grow from $4.8 million in 2012 to $128 million by 2027), and they're looking for people who can grow with them!

The Supply Chain/Logistics Leader will be an integral part of the Import aspect of the business. They will oversee the sourcing, production, costing, and logistics process for imports with overseas and vendors. This person will have close communication with suppliers in China and around the world.

This position is expected to work cross functionally between production, sales, and customer service teams to ensure timely processing and monitoring of all active import orders. This position is expected to exemplify hard work, integrity, and strong ability to communicate effectively and is not afraid to push back and question certain processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the development and implementation of short- and long-term supply chain strategies that address pricing issues, capacity issues, production location decisions, new suppliers, deliver cost savings, material planning challenges and logistic issues in support of business growth.
  • Manage communication between domestic based import resources and those based in China.
  • Collaborate with appropriate Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service personnel to meet customer needs.
  • Active participation on business reviews with suppliers and provide constructive feedback to help suppliers to improve performance.
  • Drive Gross Margin Improvements through negotiations or localization with supplier on pricing, rework cost and minimizing expediting cost and purchase price variance.
  • Manages supplier relationships to ensure supplier performance and adherence to quality standards and requirements.
  • Provide direction to suppliers in forecasting, planning and sourcing. Analyze, resolve or escalate inventory and backorder issues.
  • Build scenario plans based on new business opportunities, potential demand changes, and critical product transitions.
  • Works with cross functional departments that are related to production to make sure deadlines are met.
  • Analyze forecasted demand and inventory to develop and manage monthly supply plans. Evaluate risks, plan and implement contingency plans to mitigate.
  • Drives continuous improvement philosophy and approach to problem solving and process improvement.
  • Reviews the vendor requirements with the factories (labeling/ packaging/ shipping/ overall production requirements).
  • Works with cross functional departments that are related to production to make sure deadlines are met.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,) and have the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table) would be preferred.
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States
  • Ability to work in a general office environment
  • Ability to travel-internationally at least once a year

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, distribution, logistics, materials management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years directly related experience in working with suppliers, production planning/scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, and working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 7 + years of experience in sourcing products, components, raw materials from overseas.
  • APICS or CPIM certification preferred.
  • Experience and proficiency within MRP/ERP systems.
  • Data analytics and reporting experience required
