Supply Chain Manager

Supply Chain Leader is responsible for leadership and continuous improvement of the total supply chain, from raw material sourcing to completed product shipment. Assures material procurement activities drive timely receipt at optimum cost and quality. Initiates programs focused on inventory management, supplier relations, and preferred supplier initiatives. Participates and collaborates with all members of the management team to create and implement the company's strategic and business plans.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leads, Manages, and is accountable for the Supply Chain team and net results.
  • Manages Vendor relationships including but not limited to:
    • Vendor Scorecards
    • Ensures delivery dates are met and manages lead times
    • Cost management and winning concessions without damaging relationships
    • Management of Supplier contracts for procurement and maintenance
    • Acquisitions of all material required for business
    • Interviews and selects appropriate vendors that can meet Viking's product needs and expectations
    • Develops and maintains a positive "win/win" supplier relationship
  • Utilizes a spectrum of strategic negotiation tactics and techniques to acquire products and materials considering optimum cost and quality factors
  • Presents data regarding buy or make decisions
  • Manages incoming material receivables to investigates issues and/or problems
  • Integrates supply chain best practices and continuous improvement processes
  • Establishes guidelines for purchase of supplies and commodities
  • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery
  • Participates in cross functional teams in support of various functions at Viking
  • Perform other purchasing functions as required by corporate policy and department needs
  • Conducts daily activities according to documented quality system procedures and work instructions
  • Identifies and reports non-conformities in product according to quality system procedures
  • Produces and maintains reports to track supply chain performance metrics

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS/BA in Business, or similar degree, or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing a team
  • 5 years minimum of related experience in purchasing, planning or material control in a manufacturing environment (preferably fabrication)
  • Experience with ERP/ MRP, production planning and inventory management systems
  • Microsoft Outlook and Excel experience required
  • Microsoft Access experience desired
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels both inside and outside the company
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow projects through effectively
  • Familiarity with CAD/prints a plus
