Private equity backed manufacturer hiring for VP of Finance. The VP of Finance will lead all aspects of Finance and Accounting, partnering with leadership to drive the overall strategy of the company.

The VP of Finance and Accounting is a key member of the executive team responsible for the administrative, accounting, financial, and risk management operations of the company, which includes ongoing improvement of the current accounting processes / systems to streamline monthly reporting and the development and execution of the financial and operational strategy in conjunction with the CEO.

Roles and Responsibilities: 


  1. Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and support tactical initiatives
  2. Assist in developing, monitoring and directing the implementation of strategic business plans
  3. Develop and implement the organization’s financial goals
  4. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  5. Develop and maintain performance measures and controls that support the company’s strategic direction and safeguard financial assets of the company


  1. Participate in key discussions and decisions as a member of the leadership team
  2. Manage company’s accounting personnel including their appropriate measurables
  3. Manage any third party outsourced functions
  4. Maintain, advise and improve on the company’s transaction processing systems
  5. Assist in improving profitability
  6. Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
  7. Have a thorough understanding and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  8. Monitor cash flow projections, debt levels and compliance with debt covenants as required
  9. Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements
  10. Manage and assist in the preparation of/maintaining the annual budget
  11. Manage and ensure proper compliance with required government units, including necessary substantiating documentation. This includes sales tax reporting, state registrations, registered agents, and required state annual reports.
  12. Assist in the design, implementation and timely calculations of salary guidelines, wage incentives, commissions, increases and salaries of staff


  1. Oversee the issuance of timely, complete and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  2. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  3. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  4. Provide for a system of management cost reports
  5. Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Risk Management

  1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
  2. Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  3. Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  4. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage (general, workers compensation, etc.)
  5. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  6. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of customer, vendor and government agencies
  7. Report risk issues to the company’s executives

Third Parties

  1. Represent the company with customers and vendors
  2. Maintain banking relationships including all financial reporting requirements
  3. Maintain relations with external CPA firm and investigate their findings and recommendations

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience with Traction (EOS) based on the book by Gino Wickman also a plus.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Management Accountant designations.
