The Future of the HR Department

Recently, many organizations have started a round of “catch up” hiring after years of staffing freezes and cutbacks. In particular, employers are seeking to add experienced HR professionals with strong branding and recruitment skills to their team. Now more than ever, employers and companies rely on these talent acquisition professionals for guidance as they seek to grow their employee base.

As the economy improves and the demand for other, more specialized professionals increases, HR employees will need to more aggressively and intelligently recruit both passive and active candidates. The talent acquisition market is the fastest changing area in HR, as new social media recruiting tools, talent networks, personality assessments, and other unique recruiting platforms pop up each month. A number of HR positions have grown to address this shift in industry practices.

In the coming year, a company’s employment brand will become more important, and more strategic, than ever. “In 2015, organizations will need to begin to integrate their talent acquisition teams, develop a global strategy, and expand their use of analytics, big data, and social networks,” states Josh Bersin, a LinkedIn Influencer.
