WCCO Interview: Tips For Getting the Job You Want
January 31, 2017 – Versique’s VP of HR Consulting and Search, Chris Dardis, was recently interviewed on WCCO to share his professional advice for landing a new job in 2017. He provided some vital advice for anyone looking for a career change in the New Year.
Three Career Keys
Chris spoke about three career keys for anyone looking to transition into a new position. The first is, self-exploration; focusing in on what makes you feel most energized and engaged in the workplace. Second, be honest with yourself; what sort of compensation are you looking for in your next role? Chris states “If you make a move in this market right now, we are seeing typically a ten percent increase moving from one company to another.” Lastly, resume matters, Chris explains the importance of having your LinkedIn and resume stand out to drive conversation.
Additionally, Chris detailed the importance of activating your network, talking to those you know about opportunities for your future.
When it comes time that you land that interview, he broke it down to three simple tips. One, investigate the company and person you are interviewing. Two, share your passion, know what you love to do and talk about it. Three, always follow up, create a well-crafted email explaining why you are the best candidate for the position and thank them for their time.
