Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in packaging, processing, and manufacturing improvements. This exciting role is pivotal in optimizing our production processes, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of products, and evaluating the compatibility of new products with existing systems. This role will involve collaborating with production operations, quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain teams, and the role is expected to be a key technical leader.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence and improve performance.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, yield, labor productivity, waste reduction, process capability, risk reduction, and cost reduction. 
  • Improve cycle times, eliminate bottlenecks, increase throughputs, and streamline operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to trial, scale up, and commercialize new products from concept to production, ensuring seamless integration into existing manufacturing processes.
  • Develop equipment expertise and serve as the primary resource for technical knowledge on assigned lines and systems.  Coach and develop line leads and operational team members on technical skills.
  • Lead or assist in developing new equipment installations or modifications, from concept to commissioning, focusing on maximizing output, minimizing downtime, and reducing operational risk.
  • Utilize Data Analysis and statistical techniques to identify bottlenecks, process variability, and areas for improvement in production processes. Implement data-driven solutions to increase overall efficiency.
  • Define and own manufacturing process control plans.  Set up in-process measurement monitoring and trending systems, including SPC of critical parameters.
  • Perform process capability studies to predict the manufacturing system's ability to meet customer product specifications and assure stability in daily operations.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency gains and enhance operational excellence.  Assist in training and mentoring teams in these methodologies to create a culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain product quality and safety, emphasizing reducing operational risk. Enhance quality control processes while maintaining adherence to food safety and quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, chemical, or any engineering-related field) preferred.
  • 4 to 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment using high-speed packaging equipment.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • GMP experience preferred
  • 3+ years of project management experience is a plus.
  • 3+ years of a strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA) or the ability to understand/learn this space is required.

Salary: $85 - $120k base salary plus annual bonus
