This is an exciting opportunity to join a small organization in a leadership role, where you manage the team and environment as they upgrade and improve their existing technology.

We are seeking an IT Director to lead the technology operations, infrastructure design, and digital initiatives of a small, data-focused organization. This is a senior leadership position that combines IT oversight with hands-on infrastructure management and solution architecture. The successful candidate will be an integral partner in helping the organization through its technological transformation, requiring direct involvement in implementation and day-to-day operations management.

Worksite location: Hybrid. Work onsite 1x per week in Edina, MN

Salary: $150 – 175k/yr. salary target, bonus of up to 10%

Role & Responsibilities: 

Leadership & Governance

  • Develop IT priorities aligned with organizational goals and technology transformation objectives.
  • Establish IT policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to the organization'sorganization's size.
  • Manage IT budget and vendor relationships with a focus on cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Board and executive leadership, performance, security, and overall technology initiatives.

Infrastructure Architecture & Management

  • Design and maintain scalable infrastructure architecture (cloud-first).
  • Oversee system performance, security, and reliability across all technology platforms.
  • Implement backup and disaster recovery processes to support business continuity procedures.
  • Hands-on involvement in infrastructure troubleshooting and optimization.

Service Management & Operations

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the company's ITSM.
  • Establish service quality standards for IT service delivery and user support procedures.
  • Coordinate incident response and problem-resolution activities. Maintain documentation and ensure resources are aligned with processes and practices.
  • Implement change control practices and policies to minimize operational disruption and ensure regular system maintenance.

Portfolio and Team Management

  • Lead technology projects from planning through implementation.
  • Coordinate with department heads and end users on technology requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Responsible for the management of the Technology team.
  • Provide technical mentoring and professional development guidance.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience with 3+ years in leadership roles
  • Experience managing IT operations in small organizations (ie 25-50 employees)
  • Proven track record of successful technology implementations and upgrades
  • Experience with budget management and vendor negotiations

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), including architectural best practices for resiliency, scalability, and cost optimization.
  • Experience with virtualization, networking, and security technologies
  • Proficiency in system administration (Windows required, Linux a bonus)
  • Experience in the development of business applications and database management
  • Significant experience managing technical teams, project management, and ITSM best practices.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices

Leadership & Business Skills

  • Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing small teams and external service providers
  • Customer service orientation with a focus on user satisfaction
