The Benefits Specialist administers employee benefits programs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction. This position is responsible for maintaining benefits data, supporting payroll processes and leave administration, and serving as a key resource for employees regarding benefits education and claims assistance.
Worksite Location: Edina, MN. This role will require onsite training. Hybrid is possible after a few months.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000/yr

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Help support all things employee benefits — from keeping info in the HRIS/benefits system up to date to working with Payroll to sort out billing or deduction issues.
- Review and submit benefits invoices to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
- Pitch in on audits and compliance checks to ensure everything runs smoothly and is properly documented.
- Welcome new employees with benefits info sessions, keep the benefits site fresh, and help folks get the most out of what's available. Assist with claim issues by coordinating with vendors and brokers and escalating concerns as needed.
- Play a key role during open enrollment by managing communications and system updates.
- Handle leave-of-absence and disability requests, making sure everything aligns with policy and legal standards.
- Manage workers' comp reporting and the yearly audit.
- Be the go-to backup for Payroll — including bi-weekly, bonus, and profit sharing — and take the lead on running Payroll at least twice a year.
- Own the COBRA process, including enrollments, audits, and keeping employees in the loop.
- Set up and manage file feeds to ensure data accuracy and handle discrepancies when they arise.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Associate's degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted.
- 2-4 years experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field of study.
Critical Skills:
- HRIS and Data Management: Proficiency in using HRIS/Benefits systems to maintain accurate benefits data and ensure data integrity.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to review benefit invoices, process claims accurately, and catch discrepancies before they escalate.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to evaluate benefits data, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to educate employees, collaborate with internal teams, and interact with vendors and brokers.
- Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of benefits, leave, and workers' compensation regulations to ensure all processes meet legal and organizational standards.
