The Controller is responsible for directing the organization's (and associated legal entities) general accounting operations. Ensures the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports to determine the organization's financial status, trends, and cash flows.
Administers general accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for accurate and timely audits and tax returns. Reports directly to the CFO. Will lead a team of team members, including accounting, accounts payable, and reimbursement managers. Will collaborate with all levels of the organization, including frequent interaction with senior leadership. The result of this leader's efforts will be exemplary service to key stakeholders, transforming financial analysis and accounting practices into profitable and sustainable growth. The Controller will report directly to the CFO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership Accountabilities:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Leads financial month/year-end close efforts to produce accurate and timely financial statements that align with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Leads financial reporting, audits, and other service-level needs, given that the organization serves as the managing partner for all finance needs
- Accountable for the timely and accurate inclusion of multiple subsidiaries and joint venture relationships in the financial reporting.
- Leads the preparation and completion of internal and external audits, including multiple benefit plan audits.
- Prepares and leads the annual tax returns and governmental reporting needs.
- Prepares and leads the new needs of Single Audit reporting created through COVID Federal Grants.
- Enhances accounting processes and models with respect to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliation, revenue recognition, and other key accounting principles.
- Drives new accounting initiatives, cross-functionally with executive leadership, to ensure appropriate due diligence is performed.
- Implements and enforces policies/procedures to enhance quality and reduce the organization's risk exposure.
- Partners with leadership to reduce the cost of delivering financial services without compromising quality.
- Presents detailed financial findings to senior management in an easy-to-understand format.
- Manages a team of accounting and reporting management and staff professionals; provides coaching, manages career development, and fosters a proactive approach to partnering with operational leaders.
- Responsible for all aspects across the accounting and reporting needs for the successful implementation and future application of a new cloud-based ERP system.
- Achieves key customer care, financial, and/or operational outcomes as found in the annual work plan.
- Establishes systems and processes that drive accountability for customer care, financial, and/or operational outcomes.
- Works effectively with cross-company partners to execute divisional and departmental initiatives and day-to-day operations.
- Acts as an effective communication conduit horizontally and vertically throughout the organization.
- Leads corporate-wide initiatives that achieve the intended outcome.

Required Skills and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.
- CPA required.
- MBA preferred.
Experience
- Ten or more (10+) years of experience in accounting.
- Leadership and talent management experience required.
- Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Proficiency with Excel required; knowledge of Lawson/ERP systems preferred.
