HR Director

Step into a high-impact HR Director role where your leadership shapes culture, drives talent strategies, and builds strong labor partnerships. In this fast-paced manufacturing environment, you’ll be the trusted advisor to leaders and employees alike, balancing hands-on execution with big-picture strategy
The HR Director will be a strategic business partner and people leader, overseeing HR support for about 350 employees across two local sites. This role manages a small HR team while also providing hands-on guidance to leaders, managers, and employees. The position requires strength in HR execution and labor relations, with an emphasis on building a positive culture, driving growth, and supporting operational goals. The ideal candidate is a strong business partner, people developer, and problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

Location: Dayton, MN - Onsite

Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 + 20% Bonus

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Business Partnering & Strategy

  • Act as the main HR partner for leadership, aligning people strategy with business goals.

  • Coach and guide leaders on talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Coordinate with other business units while tailoring solutions locally.

  • Talent & Culture

  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, and retention strategies.

  • Partner with staffing agencies as needed.

  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive employee engagement and embed company values in daily practices.

    Labor & Employee Relations

  • Serve as the HR lead for union relations at both sites.

  • Manage collective bargaining agreements and support grievance processes.

  • Train managers on working in a union environment and maintain positive employee relations.
    Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and CBAs.

  • Advise managers and HR staff on policy and legal requirements.
    Leadership & HR Operations

  • Lead and develop a small HR team.

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, performance, and training programs.

  • Partner with operations on workforce planning and labor management.

  • Continuously improve HR processes and systems for efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a business partner role while supervising HR team members.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility with senior leaders and frontline employees alike.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Union experience.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing HR professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on execution in a growing and dynamic environment.
