Interim Compensation Consultant (47451)
The Interim Compensation Consultant will lead a comprehensive review of the organization's compensation program, including job leveling across ~100 unique roles, assessment of compensation tools, system recommendations, and evaluation of market competitiveness. This role includes both hands-on project work and light coaching of team members who will learn alongside the consultant. The work will ebb and flow, beginning with discovery and project scoping before moving into deeper analysis and recommendations.
Worksite Location: Hybrid - St. Paul, MN.
Salary Range: Hourly rate between $75–$85, DOE.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct discovery to understand current compensation programs, tools, structure, and pain points
- Evaluate the existing system and determine whether it meets organizational needs or if alternative tools should be considered
- Lead compensation benchmarking and analysis for ~100 unique roles across multiple entities and states
- Develop or refine job leveling and grading structures
- Review and advise on compensation philosophy, including competitiveness and market positioning
- Identify differences in the same-titled roles across entities and incorporate appropriate distinctions into the framework
- Prepare recommendations for systems, processes, tools, and long-term compensation strategies
- Provide guidance and hands-on learning support to internal HR team members
- Partner with senior HR leaders to shape timelines, deliverables, and communication plans
- Support future implementation of selected compensation tools
Required Skills & Experience:
- Deep compensation expertise, including job leveling, market benchmarking, grading, and pay philosophy
- Experience evaluating compensation tools/systems (CompAnalyst, PayScale, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability
- Ability to assess compensation across multi-entity, multi-state environments
- Experience in presenting recommendations and influencing senior leaders
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coach or mentor team members
- Comfortable working independently and managing an evolving project with shifting priorities
