Interim Employee Relations Business Partner

We are seeking an Employee Relations professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments to join our clients' team. This Interim Employee Relations Business Partner opportunity offers the chance to step into a critical role supporting a growing organization during a period of transformation. With transitions underway and increased employee volume, our client is seeking a seasoned ER Consultant who can independently manage complex cases, investigations, and leader consulting while partnering closely with HR and Legal.
The Interim Employee Relations Business Partner will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders, HRBPs, and Centers of Excellence, providing expert guidance across the full scope of employee relations matters. Operating with limited supervision, this role will manage high-volume and complex ER cases, lead investigations, ensure compliant documentation, and help maintain consistency while balancing risk, business needs, and employee experience during a time of rapid organizational change.

Worksite Location: Western Suburbs, MN – Hybrid

Salary Range: Hourly rate between $35–$45, DOE

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end employee relations cases, including investigations, performance management, corrective actions, and policy interpretation
  • Lead workplace investigations from intake through documentation, findings, and recommendations
  • Apply employment law knowledge to assess risk and guide consistent, compliant outcomes
  • Partner closely with HRBPs, Legal, and HR Centers of Excellence on complex matters
  • Maintain accurate ER documentation and identify trends or process improvement opportunities

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 4–5+ years of HR experience with at least 2+ years in Employee Relations
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, ADEA, PFL)
  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and managing sensitive ER cases
  • Experience supporting medium to large organizations (500+ employees preferred)
  • Strong written documentation, communication, and consultative skills
  • Ability to manage high case volume and competing priorities independently
