Interim Internal Auditor II (ID:47313)
The Interim Internal Auditor will plan and conduct audit procedures, with 50% operational and 50% financial focus. This includes identifying and defining risks, developing audit criteria, reviewing and analyzing financial evidence, and documenting Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) in accordance with regulatory and professional standards. This position will prepare detailed audit reports and clearly communicate findings and recommendations related to internal controls.
Worksite Location: Hybrid – Minnetonka, MN.
Salary Range: Hourly rate between $35-$45.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Approx. 40% Model Audit Rule (insurance version of SOX), 10% support for external financial statement auditors/regulatory bodies, 50% operational audits
- Execute assigned audit programs under the direction of Trisha or senior team members
- Update process narratives and prepare audit reports with provided guidance and job aids
- Heavy focus on testing controls (80–90% of the job)
- Interview process owners, review documentation, and assess processes/controls
- Collaborate with external auditors and internal stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of internal audit or public accounting
- Strong experience in process review and control testing
- Background in larger public accounting firms is valuable (smaller firms often lack control testing exposure)
- Knowledge of the health insurance industry, particularly in claims, enrollment, and billing processes, is preferred, although not required
- Strong interviewing and critical thinking skills: ability to probe, ask high-value questions, and connect information
- Comfort summarizing findings, with openness to leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot) for report writing
- Proficiency in Excel/Word/PowerPoint; experience with audit tools (ACL/IDEA) is a plus
