Join an exciting team that focuses on custom machine projects from concept development to successful project launch. Design and coordinate the mechanical and electrical activities related to the concept, testing, design, detail, assembly, and fielding of equipment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop concepts for machine design, including CAD models.
- Review designs, models, and other applicable documents for a project.
- Prepares cost estimates, delivery schedules, and product cost in response to quote requests.
- Applies knowledge of company capabilities and operations to determine material and labor hours needed for product costing and verifies compliance with marketing and sales expectations.
- Provides recommendations for improving cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Prepares mechanical assembly layouts and details.
- Assists in mechanical & electrical component selection.
- Works with purchasing to develop schedules, costs, and cost reduction strategies.
- Prepares mechanical equations for machinery.
- Develops initial design ideas and designs machines.
- Defines reasonable project goals.
- Maintains the product launch budget, schedule, and hours.
- Communicates with internal staff, vendors, and customers.
- Provide follow-up phone, email, and communication support to customers as needed.
- Supports customer relations and customer satisfaction.
- Prepares reports as required by management.
- Preparation of technical machinery information and manuals.
- Provides support for mechanical and electrical assembly in the machinery building.
- Computer operation-Solidworks CAD program, Sage ERP, MISys MRP, and Microsoft.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 10 to 15 years related mechanical or electrical engineering experience and/or training; or Bachelor of Science (B.S.M.E.) and 5 to 7 years related experience.
- 5+ years of previous estimating responsibilities in machine building or industrial automation are required.
- 5 + years of Solidworks experience required.
- 3 + years client
- ERP experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
