Security and Infrastructure Engineer Lead (ID:47432)

The Security & Infrastructure Engineer Lead supports and enhances the company's technology environment by balancing cybersecurity, infrastructure reliability, and user enablement. This position will spend approximately 60% of the time focused on Security Engineering and 40% on Infrastructure Engineering and Management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who enjoys variety — from hardening systems and monitoring threats to improving network performance and supporting key compliance initiatives under NIST and CMMC frameworks.

Location: On-site 5 Days a Week. Minneapolis, MN 

Salary: $110,000-$125,000 annually

Role & Responsibilities:

Security Engineering (˜60%)

  • Implement and maintain security controls aligned with NIST 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 standards.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts in collaboration with the external Security Operations Center (eSOC).
  • Configure and support firewalls, endpoint protection, and identity management systems.
  • Assist with vulnerability scans, patching, and remediation tracking.
  • Support incident response activities and perform root-cause analysis when required.
  • Help maintain documentation for security policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct basic security awareness and training for users.
  • Participate in ongoing improvements to the organization's cybersecurity roadmap.

Infrastructure Engineering & Management (˜40%)

  • Assist with the design, deployment, and support of network, server, and cloud environments.
  • Perform day-to-day infrastructure maintenance, patching, and monitoring.
  • Support backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and staff to document systems, procedures, and configurations.
  • Evaluate and implement technology updates to improve stability, performance, and security.
  • Provide escalation support for IT operations and participate in on-call rotation if needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 4–7 years of experience in IT security, infrastructure, or systems administration.
  • Working knowledge of NIST 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, networking concepts, and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with endpoint protection, SIEM tools, or vulnerability management solutions preferred.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, Project/task management and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant certifications (Security+, Network+, Microsoft, or AWS) are a plus.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • CMMP certification is a plus
