The Senior Controls Engineer oversees and leads the development of PLC and HMI programs for switchgear, panel boards, and electrical power distribution equipment for safe, effective, and efficient operation of products.  Our clients' products are electrical systems that are custom-engineered to order; these products should exceed the company's quality, production standards, and customer expectations for documentation and delivery timeline.

Salary: $125,000 - $160,000/year, depending on experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and oversee all aspects of programming of PLC's, HMIs, and remote I/O devices in a fast-paced, collaborative, manufacturing environment, and a project management structure to ensure workflow remains within schedule and budget requirements.
  • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of electrical circuitry and hardware components to design, develop, and implement control systems for various applications.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements, and provide directions to other engineers and designers.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and pursue continuous improvement of design, manufacturing, and installation processes and methods.
  • Provide training, author documentation, procedures, and work instructions to mentor and grow the technical competencies of engineering teams.
  • Support new product development initiatives by remaining up to date with new industry products, technologies, and trends.
  • Mentor and coach other Controls Engineers.
  • 0-10% Travel.

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • BSEE or relevant engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of engineering and technical experience.
  • Proficient with a variety of communication protocols, including but not limited to: Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Ethernet IP, & Profinet.
  • Experienced in providing project coordination and management for customer orders.
  • Experience developing custom products is desirable.
  • Experienced with SCADA integration (Inductive Automation Ignition, Blue Open Studio, or Wonderware InTouch).
  • Proficient with PLC and HMI software.
    • PLC – Emerson PAC Machine Edition or Allen Bradley Studio 5000
    • HMI – Emerson Movicon/PAC Machine Ed. Or Allen Bradley Factorytalk View Machine Edition.
