Roles & Responsibilities:

The HR Director will serve as a strategic business partner and people leader, responsible for driving HR initiatives that support the Dayton and Champlain Manufacturing sites' growth and operational goals.

Reporting to a Chief People Officer, this role oversees HR support for approximately 350 union and non-union employees

The Director will directly manage an HR team and provide hands-on support as a trusted advisor to leaders, managers, and employees.

Business Partnering & Strategy

Serve as primary HR business partner to the Site Operations leadership team, aligning people strategies with business objectives.

Provide coaching, guidance, and thought partnership to leaders on talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.

Collaborate with other entities to align practices, policies, and programs while tailoring solutions for the site's needs.
Talent & Culture

Focus on integrating multiple companies.

Drive manufacturing recruiting, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and keep top talent.

Champion a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Lead employee engagement initiatives and ensure clients' values are incorporated in daily practices.
Labor Employee Relations

Serve as the primary HR contact for labor relations at both unionized production sites.

Build and maintain constructive relationships with union leadership and employee representatives.

Administer collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), ensuring consistent interpretation and application across sites.

Partner with operations leaders to address workforce matters in alignment with CBAs, business needs, and legal requirements.

Support grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and other labor-related processes.

Provide training and guidance to managers on working effectively in a union environment.

Monitor workplace climate and proactively address issues to promote collaboration, fairness, and compliance.
Compliance -
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies and
collective bargaining agreements, where applicable. -
Guide managers and HR staff on policies, practices, and legal considerations.
Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and develop an HR team

Ensure team members are equipped with skills, tools, and coaching to grow in their roles and provide excellent service.

Foster a collaborative, service-oriented HR team that balances operational execution with strategic impact.
Programs & Processes

Implement compensation, benefits, performance management, and training programs in partnership with the client.
Solutions HR leadership

Partner with operations to ensure workforce planning, scheduling, and labor management practices support business needs.

Implement and continuously improve HR processes and systems to drive efficiency and scalability.
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in a closely related field.

8+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a business partner role while supervising HR team members.

Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Demonstrated ability to build credibility with senior leaders and frontline employees alike.

Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.

Union experience.

Proven track record of leading and developing HR professionals.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on execution in a growing and dynamic environment.
