VP of Construction Operations (ID:47057)
Our client is seeking a dynamic Vice President of Construction Operations to partner directly with the CEO and executive team in shaping the company's future, leading operational strategy, driving excellence across all business units, and playing a pivotal role in turning vision into reality.

As a member of the executive leadership team, alongside the CEO, Vice President of Preconstruction & Strategy, and CFO, the Vice President of Construction Operations will be entrusted with driving operational excellence across all business units.

This individual will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and financial leadership across all construction-related operations, positioning our client as a market leader in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) services.

With responsibility for six integrated operating divisions (over 700 employees), the Vice President of Construction Operations will lead efforts to enhance project execution, align operational processes, and drive profitability through cross-functional synergy, innovative project management systems, and the strategic integration of manufacturing and fabrication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and implement a long-term vision and functional strategy that supports the company's growth objectives and operational excellence.
  • Align and integrate operations across all construction groups to promote efficiency, collaboration, and financial performance.
  • Lead efforts to incorporate manufacturing and fabrication capabilities into project workflows to reduce costs and improve delivery timelines.
  • Ensure projects are executed with a focus on safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Financial & Business Management

  • Provide comprehensive financial oversight, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control across all operations.
  • Implement financial strategies to enhance margins, reduce inefficiencies, and drive bottom-line performance.
  • Oversee procurement and purchasing to ensure strategic resource allocation and effective cost management.
  • Lead labor relations strategy to support workforce stability, performance, and compliance.

Technology & Process Optimization

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a streamlined Project Management platform to enhance visibility,
  • communication, and decision-making.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative technologies that improve operational scalability and construction efficiency.
  • Standardize and continuously improve construction processes to ensure consistent and reliable project outcomes.

Industry Leadership & Market Positioning

  • Serve as a key leader in positioning Horwitz as a best-in-class provider of MEP construction services.
  • Partner with the CEO in developing and executing the company's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with long-term goals.
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships that support repeat business, market expansion, and client retention.

Supervisory Expectations

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direct oversight to the six operating divisions of Horwitz, ensuring organizational alignment with company objectives and operational performance standards.
  • Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes accountability, teamwork, talent development, and continuous improvement.

Worksite Location: Minneapolis, MN

Salary Range: $200K - $225K base salary + bonus

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction operations with significant exposure to MEP systems.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex construction projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and purchasing strategy.
  • Strong background in labor relations, especially within union environments.
