The successful candidate will develop detailed 3-D drawings and specifications for product systems. Work with sales, design, procurement, manufacturing, and field service to improve designs for the best product release. Lead product design reviews. Support project work, which can include planning and building custom prototype assemblies. Verify products with performance testing and maintain design documentation.

 Roles and Responsibilities

  • Take the vision of sales and design and translate this into a manufacturable product. 

  • Collaborate and communicate with Suppliers, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to assure designs meet objectives for quality, performance, schedule, cost and manufacturability.

  • Develop detailed design and fabrication drawings and specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies.

  • When necessary, create designs and layout drawings to check dimensional requirements and review aesthetics.

  • Complete layouts and shop drawings, assign part numbers, create bills of material, complete routings, cost estimates, and installation sheets for custom products. 

  • Support planning and fabrication of custom or prototype assemblies.

  • Create and maintain project schedules to ensure projects meet timelines.

  • Work closely with the rest of the team to understand production capabilities and opportunities.

  • When product issues arise, discuss with customers to identify the root cause of problems and resolve them with corrective action through engineering change orders.

  • Support product testing as needed and FMEA. 

 
Required Skills and Experience

  • BSME

  • 3-5 years of work experience in product design.

  • Proficient use in AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D is highly preferred.
