Director of FP&A
The FP&A Director will lead the financial planning and analysis function for a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing company. Reporting to the CFO, this strategic leader will partner with senior leadership to enhance business performance, improve operational efficiency, and support key decision-making initiatives. While initially an individual contributor role, this position is expected to evolve into building and leading a high-performing FP&A team as the organization continues to scale.
Worksite Location: Maple Grove, MN
Salary Range: $150K – $190K/yr. base salary + bonus (final compensation dependent on experience and qualifications)

Roles & Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Forecasting
• Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecast cycles across all business units and manufacturing facilities.
• Develop and maintain robust financial models to support strategic planning, capacity planning, and capital allocation decisions.
• Build and maintain long-term (3–5 year) financial plans aligned with strategic growth objectives.
Business Performance Analysis
• Deliver actionable insights on financial and operational performance, including gross margin analysis, KPIs, and product line profitability.
• Monitor key manufacturing metrics such as cost per unit, labor efficiency, material usage, overhead absorption, and capacity utilization.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across manufacturing costs, supply chain dynamics, and market conditions.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, providing meaningful recommendations.
Strategic Partnership
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, COO, and plant managers, guiding operational and strategic decisions.
• Support strategic initiatives including new product launches, capital investments, make-vs-buy analysis, and facility optimization.
• Lead development of business cases for capital expenditures, equipment purchases, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Present financial results, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership.
Team Leadership & Development
• Foster a culture of analytical rigor, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team as the business scales.
• Provide coaching and professional development once the FP&A team is established.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Drive continuous improvement in financial planning tools, reporting systems, and analytical processes.
• Lead implementation and optimization of FP&A software and advise on ERP reporting functionality.
• Standardize reporting frameworks and KPIs across manufacturing locations.
• Ensure data integrity and establish best practices for financial analysis.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Recent experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong business acumen with deep understanding of manufacturing operations, cost accounting, and operational metrics.
• Advanced financial modeling and forecasting expertise.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Vena, Oracle EPM, or similar).
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and reporting capabilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Demonstrated success driving process improvements and delivering actionable insights.
Preferred:
• MBA or CPA.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of inventory management, supply chain finance, and procurement analytics.
• ERP implementation or deployment experience.
• M&A experience.
• Experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
• Capital project evaluation and ROI analysis experience.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
• Experience working in a private equity-backed organization.
