Plant Manager

Our client is a growing, total solutions provider for power products.  They pride themselves on being a one-stop outsourcing partner with capabilities that include R & D, design, engineering, rapid prototyping, testing, vertically integrated manufacturing, and assembly.  With organic growth and diversification of customer base, plus having Employee Ownership (ESOP) this is an exciting time to join the organization and have an impact!
This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing and is part of his team, along with 5 other Plant Managers across the US, working collaboratively together to share best practices and ideas. This person directly manages the Plant Management team (now 75 people, soon to be 90 people in total) and all departments. This plant manager directs and coordinates activities for the organization to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits. This person designs and implements a business strategy that ensures the facility will be a quality, on-time, low-cost supplier of parts and components to customers. Responsibilities also include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range – depends on experience, ideal range $120,000 - $155,000, plus annual bonus, employee stock award and 4% employee 401k match.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others.  Follow all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program.
  • Manage all facets of facility operation.  Develop, implement, and successfully complete short- and long-term objectives for plant operations.
  • Evaluate capacity (materials, facility, people) to produce parts and components, maximizing the utilization of facility assets.
  • Develop, implement, and successfully achieve improved manufacturing methods.
  • Maintain positive employee relations.
  • Confer with plant management to plan business objectives, develop organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between divisions and departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Directs and coordinates programs to provide funding for new equipment or continuing operations to maximize returns on investments and to increase productivity.
  • Evaluate performance of management for compliance with established policies and objectives of the firm and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Coordinate engineering, production, scheduling, quality assurance, finance and accounting, purchasing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles and procedures.
  • Maintain a commitment to continuous improvement in manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrate leadership commitment to the Quality Management system and coach others on their impact.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere.  Actively support activities that promote the welfare and morale of all employees.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience managing production, safety, and workforce performance
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Results-driven with a hands-on management style
  • Ability to lead change and drive accountability
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Strong financial and budgeting skills, preferred
