Interim Payroll, Compensation and Benefits Consultant
The Payroll, Benefits & Compensation Consultant will provide interim support across payroll operations, benefits administration, and compensation programs during a transitional period. This role will partner with HR leadership, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity of payroll processes, support open enrollment activities, and assist with compensation planning and administration. The ideal consultant brings strong payroll expertise, experience working across multiple regions or business units, and the ability to quickly step into a high-visibility role.
Worksite Location: Hybrid – East St. Paul area, MN
Salary Range: Hourly rate between $65-90, DOE

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll processes and serve as a primary resource for payroll administration and vendor coordination
- Manage payroll approvals, issue resolution, and ongoing payroll operations
- Support benefits administration and employee benefit programs
- Lead and coordinate open enrollment activities and employee communications
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll and benefits operations
- Support compensation activities including job evaluations, market pricing, and merit planning
- Assist with compensation analysis, reporting, and pay-related projects
- Maintain compliance and documentation across payroll, benefits, and compensation functions
- Provide continuity and operational support during a key team transition
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and organizational leadership
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven payroll, benefits, and compensation experience
- Strong background overseeing payroll operations and vendor management
- Experience supporting benefits administration and open enrollment processes
- Knowledge of compensation programs, market pricing, and merit planning
- Experience working with ADP Workforce Now, ADP Celergo, or similar payroll platforms preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and navigate a complex, fast-moving environment
- Experience supporting multi-state or global workforces is a plus
