CFO North America (ID:44985)
This is a newly created CFO Finance Leadership opportunity at a privately held company, with aggressive plans for continued growth, to lead the evolution of the Finance function.

The CFO NA will oversee all aspects of Finance for the Company's operations in North America. Reporting to the Global CFO, the CFO NA will represent the business to executive leadership and the board. Among this role's highest priorities will be the creation and execution of a strategic Finance plan to leverage people, processes, and infrastructure in support of the Company's ambitious growth objectives. The CFO NA will also be charged with leading the evolution of the Finance function to one that is forward-looking and has a mindset of strategic accountability.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Serve as a thought partner and trusted counsel to executive leadership, actively contributing to high-level decisions around spending, business strategy, and pricing.
  • Work collaboratively to continually review financial performance against plan and make recommendations for recalibration as needs arise.
  • Lead Finance as a strategic voice in support of acquisitive growth objectives for the business unit.
  • Participate actively in due diligence, assessment, and negotiations related to proposed acquisitions.
  • Contribute to the development of an M&A playbook.
  • Create and execute a scalable integration strategy to unify and streamline existing and new operations resulting from M&A activity.
Finance Leadership
  • Oversee all fiscal activity for the business unit, including budgeting, financial and operating controls, reporting, and auditing.
  • Work with EVP NA to develop the annual business plan and ongoing business strategy.
  • Identify, monitor, and communicate key financial metrics for the region, ensuring the appropriate controls are in place to track performance against plan and leverage insights for informed decision-making for the business.
  • Devise and operationalize a plan to consolidate and streamline Finance operations across the US and Canada. Create efficiencies by establishing and upholding consistent processes across the region. Optimize existing Finance teams and build new ones with a strategic focus. 
  • Monitor the internal control environment and establish corrective actions to address deficiencies.
  • Lead cost analysis and reduction efforts.
  • Devise and maintain financial planning scenarios and cash flow projections to facilitate sound decisions related to the business.
  • Represent the business to EVP NA, preparing and presenting timely, accurate reporting on performance against objectives. 
  • Highlight actions needed to keep the business on track.
  • Prepare, review, and file federal, state, third-party, and other financial reports to ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC, IRS, and other taxing entity and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership
  • Create and execute a plan to consolidate the Finance organization. Build the capacity and preparedness of Finance teams to support accelerated growth, evaluating the organizational structure to identify critical needs for hiring and optimizing talent. 
  • Hire, train, develop, and motivate high-performing teams, cultivating opportunities to expand individual skill sets while maintaining high levels of collaboration and integrity.
  • Provide developmental opportunities, coaching, and feedback to support the growth and retention of the Finance team. 
  • Ensure a consistent operating rhythm by setting direction, outlining accountabilities, and maintaining focus and transparency around business objectives. 

Required Skills & Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, ideally to include 5+ years of team leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating with and reporting to executive leadership or boards.
  • A successful history in change management leadership, ideally one that involves functional consolidation and/or organizational restructuring.
  • M&A experience is preferred, with involvement in identifying targets and deal execution the ideal.
  • Direct experience in manufacturing is preferred, but distribution or logistics will be considered.
  • Broad exposure to finance and accounting disciplines, including general accounting, audit, reporting, planning and analysis, budgeting, internal controls, information systems, treasury, and taxation.
  • Record of success in matrixed organizations, ideally with experience in foreign-owned, culturally diverse environments.
  • Proven ability to lead both onsite and remote teams.
  • Strong ability to think and act with agility, balancing the strategic with the tactical.
