Chief Manufacturing Officer (ID:45172)
Our client is a $100M+ privately held company with approximately 600 employees.  Growing, entrepreneurial business with an excellent reputation, making high-quality, low-cost, customized products for OEMs.
The Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO) oversees the entire Manufacturing Operations process across the company (4 site locations currently). Responsibilities include optimizing the utilization of trainees, streamlining Production, and collaborating with other executives to execute strategic production planning. This role will foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the organization. The CMO will lead Manufacturing and help steer department leaders across the organization to successfully scale their processes during the ebb and flow of the sales pipeline, supply chain, and labor market. 

Roles & Responsibilities: 
  • Labor Efficiency: Take ownership of the Company’s Direct Labor Efficiency while executing strategies that return or maintain efficiency to approved historical or theoretical levels.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the overall vision and priorities of the company.
  • Production Optimization: Streamline manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall production predictability and output. Collaborate with the Chief Executive, Financial, and Commercial Officer to align operational strategies with overall business objectives. 
  • Plan Management: Partner with executives to manage financial plans and results for operational activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization. 
  • Continuous improvement to trainee utilization: Develop and implement a method to frequently evaluate manufacturing assembler training. Ensure that the training program is designed to keep up with industry standards and can help new assemblers learn speed and quality work early in training to transition to Production with minimal errors and satisfactory efficiency successfully. 
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, OSHA regulations, and health and safety guidelines in the manufacturing process. 
  • Team Leadership: Provide effective direction to the Manufacturing Operations team across facilities, including fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Technology Integration: Partner with leaders within the organization to identify and implement relevant technologies, such as developing Power BI reports, to provide visibility into the day-to-day operations and production obstacles. Enhance manufacturing processes by utilizing new technologies and tools to stay relevant and competitive. 
  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of operational processes. Make data-driven decisions for process optimization. 
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate operational risks. Develop contingency plans that address potential disruptions in the manufacturing process and collaborate with department leaders to overcome obstacles quickly or prevent delays to Production. 

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, operations management, or related field required.
  • A Master’s degree in business management or an MBA with a focus on operations management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and achieving strategic goals. 
  • Strong leadership skills are required. Must be able to guide and inspire teams while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and project management skills are required. 
  • Must clearly convey strategies, objectives, and expectations to internal teams and external customers. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex situations and make informed decisions. 
  • Must have strong financial acumen and negotiation skills to effectively work with suppliers, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders. 
  • Ability to lead organizational change and navigate through transitions smoothly.
  • Must be proficient with leading technology to foster an environment of ongoing feedback, continuous improvement, and implement best practices for efficiency gains.
