The Director of Finance & Accounting for North America plays a key role in the leadership of our North American business. With a reporting line into the Global Finance Director, this role will be responsible for the NA business's financial controls, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. They should work closely with colleagues in all parts of the NA business, specifically Sales and Operations, third parties such as the 3PL, payment and banking providers, and advisers. The role also requires close relationships with the Global Finance team and other functions, including website operations.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in finance and accounting, capable of driving financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing valuable insights to support business growth and profitability. They will be an excellent communicator, providing strong leadership to their team and clarity and transparency to management.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Oversee and present comprehensive management accounts to the NA and Global businesses covering wholesale, website, and marketplace channels
  • Develop budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the Global FP&A team and NA leadership
  • Conduct financial performance reviews and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and monitor meaningful KPIs and indicators for the business
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data, meeting Group and local requirements
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and optimize working capital in collaboration with Global Finance operations
  • Manage local banking relationships, merchant accounts, and other financial operations
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and standards
  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement appropriate risk management strategies
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives to optimize financial performance
  • Foster a team spirit of openness and innovation
  • Motivate and develop team members
  • The individual will be an officer of the corporation and act as a signatory on contracts

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in a senior finance role, preferably within the retail or distribution industry
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies that drive business results
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, BI, Excel, and ERP systems
